1)   Differentiate between a Gateway and a Router.

Answer: A gateway is an active network node connecting to physically incompatible networks and using different addresses. Gateways couple the most different protocol and transmission methods. The gateway can work on all layers of the OSI model layer model.

A Router can be seen as a connecting network device because a router uses the computer's MAC address and the IP addresses. It can be classified as a layer three device. The information sent is called a data package.

2) What are proxy servers? How are they able to protect a system?

Answer:  A Proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediator between end-users and the web pages they visit online. A proxy server provides the functionality of a firewall and filter. The end-user can select a proxy designed to protect data and privacy. The proxy server IP address is seen by hackers. Without your personal IP address, anyone on the internet does not have direct access to your personal data.

3) What is cache memory?

Answer: Cache Memory is a high-speed memory. It is more expensive than main memory but more efficient than CPU registers. It acts as a buffer between RAM and the CPU. Cache memory is used to minimize the average time to access data from the Main memory.

4) Define different methods of installing an operating system.

Answer: There are different methods of installing an operating system into a computer, such as :

·        Drive Imaging- Ghost

·        Alternatives to boot media- DVD, floppy, or USB

·        Network installation Method

5) What are the various types of Hard Disc Drive Connectors?

Answer: The different types of Hard Disc Drive Connectors are IDE, SCSI, SATA, SAS, ITE, EITE, PATA, etc.

6) Define the functions of an operating system

Answer: The essential functions of an operating system are Memory Management, Processor Management, Device Management, File Management, Security, and Coordination between other software and users.

7) What do you mean by a motherboard?

Answer: Motherboard is also known as the mainboard. It often describes as the backbone of a computer. It can be defined as a platform that combines various parts of a computer. It helps to connect sound drivers, video drivers, hard drives, and the CPU.

8) What is GUI?

Answer: GUI stands for Graphical User Interface. It is a type of interface that allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and visual indicators.

9) What is the Domain Name System (DNS)?

Answer: Domain Name System is used to translate a domain name into IP addresses. DNS maintains a table where website names are mapped with their IP addresses; when we type any website name in the URL bar, DNS transfers it into the browser language that is the IP address.
